What is migraine?

Migraine is a neurological disorder that affects the brain. It manifests with multiple complaints, the most prominent of which is headache. There are a multitude of other complaints that may also accompany a migraine headache. These include light sensitivity, referred to as ‘photophobia,’ and sound sensitivity, which is referred to as ‘phonophobia.’ Occasionally, there may be ‘osmophobia,’ which refers to the patient’s heightened sensitivity to smells. READ MOREDr Kayed graduated with honors (magna cum laude) from the University of Evansville in Indiana with a BSc degree in Biology in 1986. He next obtained his MD degree from St George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada in 1990. He next completed his Neurology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, USA where he also served as chief resident.
Thereafter, Dr Kayed obtained subspecialty fellowship training in Clinical Neurophysiology at Allegheny University Hospitals (1997) and in Advanced Clinical Neurology / Pediatric Neurology at Jefferson University Hospital (1998), all in Philadelphia, PA, USA.
Dr Deeb Khayed is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at The MBRU School of Medicine, Dubai, UAE and Founding member of the Emirates Neurology Society.
